The College of New Jersey, Ewing, NJ
Completed 2009 through 2012
Feasibility and Space Planning Study. SGA completed a feasibility study that included establishing overall program objectives, goals and needs for The College of New Jersey Armstrong Hall School of Engineering. The team provided an assessment of the condition of the existing facility along with upgrades, modifications and additions required to bring the facility into the twenty-first century and to appropriately house the proposed educational program. Three options for achieving all goals were presented to the College along with conceptual cost estimates.
Armstrong Hall Building Envelope Remediation and HVAC Replacement. SGA worked closely with TCNJ to determine and confirm all building remediation objectives and recommendations for Armstrong Hall. The scope of work includes removal of the entire existing roof system(s) down to the existing roof deck and provision of a new single-ply roof membrane system. In conjunction with the roof system replacement, existing through-wall flashings, louvers, metal panel cladding, roof drainage systems and other related roofing system components were remediated. Building envelope remediation work includes repair or replacement of deteriorated masonry joints, mortar repointing, sealant systems at chimney, louvers, and cornice perimeters. Missing and damaged existing slate shingles will be replaced and the existing mechanical penthouse floor system will be waterproofed. Air handler units at the end of their useful life as well as exhaust and in-line fans are being replaced. Finally, hot water control valves at the front administrative office area will be provided.
Classroom at Packer/Dance Studio at Recreation Center. SGA confirmed programming objectives and provided schematic phase level documentation as well as construction documentation for converting an existing dance studio into a classroom and also for converting an existing racquetball court into a dance studio. As part of the project, a code review, egress plan drawings, and mechanical system/IT drawings were also provided.
Miscellaneous Adminstrative Office Additions. SGA prepared documentation for The College of New Jersey for various improvements and additions to their administrative offices within Armstrong Hall.
