Introduction

At SGA, we firmly believe that, in architecture, the process of getting to the end result is as important as the end result itself, and that the client is a critical component. Through experience, we know that involving client and building end user representation as well as the community as a whole in the planning process produces some amazing results. We successfully utilize our approach for planning, programming and design projects and are anxious to share our experience with you.

Our approach – consensus-based planning – has become the foundation upon which we begin all of our planning and design processes. Through information gathering and sharing sessions, brainstorming sessions and design charrettes conducted with both the professional design team and key stakeholders involved, we find we reach creative and appropriate solutions that are better conceived than they might have been utilizing a traditional Owner/Architect approach. This is largely because the method allows for input and information sharing by all, and the buy-in to and ownership of the final design is beyond any that might develop otherwise.

By engaging the client in this interactive process, we are able to produce concepts that go beyond the basic and deliver a level of detail that enhances the day-to-day experience for the user. As a result, clients find their expectations are surpassed, and feel confident about enlisting our services time and time again.
