9-1-1 Communications Center, Wayne County

After completing a programming and planning study for the Wayne County Emergency Management Office, the team went on to complete renovations for the County’s 9-1-1 Communications Center. The project involved the fit-out of an existing shell within the recently renovated Wayne County public safety complex. Encompassing 10,615 SF of the basement and ground floors of the building, the spaces are adjacent to the County Sheriff’s office and succeed in completing the consolidation of all public safety functions under one roof.

The renovations provide spaces for the 9-1-1 center, training, administration, technicians, an equipment room, and 9-1-1 support. 9-1-1 and administrative functions are located on the ground floor with the equipment room located directly beneath in the basement space. A specific challenge of the project was working within a tight floor-to-floor space and phasing the project to accommodate the occupied and operational adjacent Sheriff’s office.

As part of the project, further hardening was added to the existing shell along with the implementation of redundancy of systems in support of the 9-1-1 center.
