Athletic Field Site Design and Physical Education Center, Twin Valley School District

The athletic field site design addressed special considerations specific to Twin Valley School District (TVSD) property constraints and existing undulating/varying site grade conditions. Each site incorporated synthetic turf football fields as well as multi-use natural grass playing fields utilized for a variety of sporting event functions. Ultimately, the athletic field design yielded a single turf athletic field for the High School as well as the Middle School. The synthetic turf fields were desired by the district mainly to maximize the use of the field over a very demanding year-long sporting event schedule. Proper grading was instrumental in promoting effective and efficient drainage. Along with athletic fields, the site design also included significant classroom building additions, bus and passenger car vehicular traffic circulation/flow considerations, and parking requirements. Accompanying facilities included Concession Buildings, Toilet Room facilities, and a Maintenance Building. In addition, the high school site included the design and construction of a new 12,000 SF two-story athletic facility. Other criteria of the athletic field site design included lighting for baseball field(s), stadium seating, pressbox, and ADA compliant walking paths and ramps.
