SCHRADERGROUP Sponsors and Attends the Council Rock Education Foundation’s 3rd Annual Golf Classic

SCHRADERGROUP (SG) attended the Council Rock Education Foundation’s third annual Golf Classic this summer. The event was hosted at the Philmont Country Club in Huntingdon Valley, PA on June 20th, with proceeds being used to support innovative K-12 S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics) programs and projects for the students at Council Rock School District.

SG was proud to once again be a Bogey Sponsor for this great cause. It is always a pleasure to continue our tradition of support for Council Rock School District and all of the tremendous benefits that come from such an important fundraiser. As educational planners and architects, SG is always looking for new ways to support educational districts and foundations that are committed to the success of their students.

SG team members Mark Adamiak, Eric Weiss, and Chris Farmer joined Terry DeGroot, Principal of Terraform Engineering, on the Terraform Team. This year, the Council Rock Education Foundation celebrates its 14th year of supporting S.T.E.A.M. Innovation projects, 21st Century Literacy, Youth Leadership, and Environmental Engagement for the district’s students. SG is proud to support an organization that is so dedicated to engaging and assisting students in developing their critical thinking skills.

Events like these are important to the success of a school district and its students, as it allows the funding of programs that would otherwise not be covered in the annual budget. SG would like to thank the dedicated members of the foundation for organizing this great event and we look forward to sponsoring the next one!

Council Rock School District’s Rolling Hills Elementary School Completed with LEED Gold Certification + ACE Grant

SCHRADERGROUP (SG) is excited to announce that Council Rock School District’s (CRSD) Rolling Hills Elementary School additions and renovations project is complete. The 12,426 SF addition and 62,695 SF renovation project transformed the facility to support the next generation of learning. The construction phase of this project persevered through the challenges associated with the pandemic through spring and summer of 2020.

Rolling Hills Elementary School is a 75,121 SF single-story elementary school for grades K-6. The existing building floor plan was completely overhauled through to the concrete roof structure to convert the existing old-style open classroom layout to a progressive and functional configuration with natural daylighting.

The design incorporated energy efficient solutions, including solar panels on the roof, and achieved LEED Gold Certification and an ACE Grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The transformation is further exemplified with an identifiable high-volume main entrance that floods the space with natural light. New building façades were constructed with abundant window openings and a variety of exterior finish materials which serve to fragment the horizontality of the one-story classroom wings.

Apart from the Multi-Purpose Room which remained in its previous location, the majority of the other spaces were reconfigured within the parameters of the original building footprint. Additions for an expanded and secure administration area, classrooms and stage were added to support the design program. The building also received all new exterior and interior walls, new mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, and AV/IT infrastructure systems.

SG is proud of our partnership with the Council Rock School District, D’Huy Engineering, and our many great consultants. We look forward to more projects in the future.

Congratulations to the Council Rock School District on its Newly Renovated Holland Middle School!

SCHRADERGROUP is excited to have attended Council Rock School District’s Dedication Ceremony for the newly renovated Holland Middle School.

Dr. Robert Fraser, the Superintendent of Schools for Council Rock School District, articulated it best when he welcomed the audience to the “newly renovated, expanded and beautiful”–Holland Middle School… A school that belongs to everyone at the Council Rock Community and a school to be proud of”.

This project represents a tremendous transformation.  Many areas of the facility were stripped to the concrete structure and rebuilt as a contemporary facility with 21st Century Learning spaces. Program additions to the current middle school include: an auditorium with balcony seating, new spaces for music, an auxiliary gymnasium, fitness room, additional classrooms and a new administration area. The interior of the building was completely renovated while the exterior of the building was updated with a new, contemporary skin—with new windows that introduce daylight throughout the facility.

SG is proud to have had the opportunity to partner with the Council Rock School District, to design a LEED Gold certified learning environment.  The students of the Council Rock School District deserve this facility!

Council Rock School District takes a tour of their Newly Renovated Holland Middle School

SCHRADERGROUP’s Managing Partner, David Schrader, representation of D’Huy Engineering and Council Rock School District’s Director of Operational Services, Doug Taylor, lead a tour for the Council Rock School District (CRSD) Board members and Administrative Cabinet of the newly renovated Holland Middle School.

Holland Middle School was one of three existing middle schools in the School District that is part of a plan to consolidate the three schools into two middle schools.  Holland received renovations and additions while a new middle school was constructed adjacent to the current Newtown Middle School. Newtown Middle School was demolished for other site functions.  Both Holland and Newtown Middle Schools are designed to the same educational specifications and will serve as the two middle schools for the district.  Holland was a challenging phased project that allowed use of the building for education.

The Holland Middle School project is an incredible transformation of the existing facility into a state of the art learning environment. Classrooms, performance grade auditorium, athletic spaces and music rooms were added. The interior of the facility was transformed into a contemporary “team” or “house” structure. Students will be amazed as they enter their “New” facility this school year.

Holland Middle School is to be ready for occupancy for the start of the 2018 school year.

SCHRADERGROUP (SG) is humbled to have played a part in this amazing project initiated by the School District.
