SCHRADERGROUP Attends the PARSS Conference in Boalsburg, PA
SCHRADERGROUP (SG) attended the Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS) Conference from May 4th to the 6th at the Wyndham Garden Hotel at the Mountain View Country Club in Boalsburg, PA.
The 2022 Conference was the first that SG has attended. SG team members Devin Bradbury and Eric Weiss represented SG at the event that included a golf tournament, a social, a dinner banquet, and various speaking engagements and presentations. It was great to see some familiar faces and to create new relationships.
The Pennsylvania Association of Rural and Small Schools (PARSS) is an advocacy and service organization dedicated to ensuring that the Commonwealth’s rural school students have access to a quality education. It is PARSS’s mission to promote equal opportunity for quality education for all students in every school and community in Pennsylvania.

SCHRADERGROUP Attends the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for East Pennsboro Area School District’s District Administration Center
SCHRADERGROUP (SG) recently attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the District Administration Center for the East Pennsboro Area School District (EPASD) in Enola, PA on last month. The event celebrated the opening of the renovated and newly expanded district administration building that was completed this summer.
The ceremony almost went down without a hitch, but was slightly interrupted by a storm front that required the attendees to move the podium and tent inside for the ribbon cutting.
This project completes a three-year long construction plan to upgrade all of East Pennsboro Area School District facilities, including additions to the two elementary schools and renovations to the middle school and high school. With the mantra “warm, safe and dry“, this achievement well positions the district to serve the community for the next several decades, providing the required capacity for the projected enrollments, and healthy and safe environments for the students for many years to come.
SCHRADERGROUP is honored to be working with a great school district like EPASD. SG would also like to express our gratitude to the entire team, including SitelogIQ, for their contributions to the design and construction of this project.

SCHRADERGROUP Attends the Enfield Elementary School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the School District of Springfield Township
SCHRADERGROUP (SG) recently attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Enfield Elementary School for the School District of Springfield Township (SDST) in Erdenheim, PA on May 21st. The event commemorated the completion of the school district’s newest facility. Enfield Elementary School is a state-of-the-art K-2 Early Learning Center designed to support the school’s unique learning curriculum specifically designed for this young age group.
Several design team members represented the SG team at the event, joining SDST staff, faculty, students, local community members, and D’Huy Engineering Construction Managers, all of whom were gathered to celebrate the new facility’s completion.
The morning’s events began with reflections on the project from former Superintendent Dr. Nancy Hacker and former Principal Dr. Catherine Van Vooren, both of whom were instrumental in formulating the vision and in working with the design team from the early project conception and throughout the design. David Schrader presented Dr. Hacker, the School Board, and the School District of Springfield Township with the Spring 2021 Learning by Design Award for Outstanding Project, further recognizing this achievement.
Current Superintendent Dr. MaryJo Yannacone provided comments and then current Principal Dr. Meghan Markle noted that this new facility will help nurture the students to be “creative, caring and curious” young learners. She then proudly introduced a representative from each Enfield Elementary School grade level to say a few words on what they liked about their school. One young man from first grade remarked that the best thing about the school is that his older sister was jealous that he was able to attend the school and that she couldn’t, followed by the second-grade representative who closed her comments noting the school was “Spectacular!”. The ceremony concluded with the ribbon cutting pictured below to officially dedicate the opening of the school.
Following the ceremony, a library dedication and tree dedication were held, both dedicating plaques to community members involved with the District. An outdoor luncheon finished off the festivities for the day.
SG is honored to be a part of such a significant project for the District. We are grateful to have the opportunity to support the School District of Springfield Township and are proud of this new facility dedicated to the District’s youngest learners.
SG would also like to express our gratitude to the entire team for their contributions to the design and construction of this amazing school. Thank you to D’Huy Engineering, Snyder Hoffman Associates, Renew Design Group, Lobar Inc., Boro Construction, Philips Brothers, and Stan-Roch Plumbing.

SCHRADERGROUP Celebrates Fifteen Years!
This year marks SCHRADERGROUP (SG)’s fifteenth anniversary. The business was established on April 15, 2004 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Fifteen years ago, Managing Partner David Schrader founded SG with the vision of designing for the future—for tomorrow’s workers, thinkers, and leaders. SG’s initial mission was to give back to the community and to build foundations for future generations. Since its inception, SG has succeeded in creating 21st century academic facilities for students, instructors, and staff. SG has also designed sustainable, survivable, community-oriented facilities for public safety/law enforcement personnel and mission critical personnel. SG is recognized both regionally and nationally for design that offers the highest degree of service to the user, responds to and respects both the built and natural environment, and demonstrates inspired aesthetics.
As SG continues to grow, we honor our beginnings and those who have helped shape us into what we’ve become today. In the images below, we have collected some of our most memorable accomplishments from those last fifteen years.
SG would like to thank our clients, supporters, and community for the opportunities past and present. Further, we’d like to thank these talented colleagues, past and present, who have been so critical to making these great projects a success. We look forward to the next fifteen years of improving the day-to-day experiences of students, faculty, staff, and community through innovative and dynamic design.

SCHRADERGROUP Receives AIA AAJ Award for Pennsylvania State Emergency Operations Center
SCHRADERGROUP is proud to announce that their recently completed project, the New State Emergency Operations Center for Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency (PEMA), has been selected as a recipient for the 2018 AIA AAJ Justice Facilities Review. The project was selected for publication based on its quality of form, functionality, and current architectural response to complex justice design issues. The AIA AAJ Justice Facilities Review jury commented, “The efficiencies of co-locating multiple agencies offers positive efficiencies. The building organization favors placing day-to-day activities along the perimeter, favoring light and view for those in the facility on a daily basis.”
SG, in a joint venture with AECOM Technology Corporation (AECOM), completed the new, approximately 145,000 SF State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) serving as a home for many of the State’s emergency response functions. In addition to ensuring the supply of continuous power and communication that is necessary for the SEOC, the design team provided a building that is reinforced and secure for emergency staff. The new facility provides dedicated emergency services and disaster assistance for the state, with the ability to sustain uninterrupted operations during activations.
In addition to the SEOC, the facility provides ergonomically-designed office space for all PEMA administrative departments, as well as partner organizations and integrated functions such as the Office of the State Fire Marshal, and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Traffic Management. The complex also supports a Tier 3 data center, media briefing, training facilities, and protected storage for PEMA operations vehicles.
Design for this facility follows sustainability guidelines, as understood by the US Green Building Council’s LEED certification process. PEMA has achieved a LEED certified rating. All programming, planning and site master planning preceding the design portion of the project also was completed by SG/AECOM.
The facility was a recipient of the same Justice Facilities Review award in 2014, prior to construction. The team is honored to receive an additional award for the completed project.
